Dec 05,2024Tinning is the process of covering the metal surface with a layer of tin. Tin has the advantages of corrosion resistance, discoloration resistance, non-toxicity, easy welding, softness, low melting point and good ductility. In modern industry, tinning is widely used in electronics, electrical appliances, packaging and other industries.
In the electronics industry, tin has a low melting point, good weldability, conductivity and non-discoloration. Tinning is often used instead of silver plating as surface protection. In addition to improving weldability, tinning of copper clad steel wires can also isolate the effect of sulfur in insulating materials.
The tinning process includes electrolytic tinning and hot dip tinning. Electroplating tin is to apply a tin layer on the metal surface through electrolysis. The characteristic of electroplating tin is that the thickness of the tin layer is uniform, but the corrosion resistance and wear resistance are relatively poor, and it is easily damaged by chemical environment, friction and other factors. Because of its simple method, low cost and relatively high production efficiency, it is widely used in surface coatings of various materials. Hot dip tinning is to melt tin at high temperature and apply it on the surface of the substrate to form a tin layer. Hot-dip tin is much thicker than electroplated tin, has a more beautiful brightness, better corrosion resistance and wear resistance, and relatively less environmental pollution. Therefore, it is often used to protect metal materials such as steel, copper, and aluminum.
The tinned copper-clad steel wire produced by our company takes advantage of the solderability and anti-sulfurization properties of tin, has the high strength and toughness of steel, is easy to cut and form, and adapts to automated production processes. Compared with pure copper wire, tinned copper-clad steel wire is lighter, longer in length with the same wire diameter and weight, and therefore more efficient in use. It is widely recognized by the market for its lower price than pure copper.
